OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! The work came pouring in!!! I AM FREAKING OUT! Last night I helped someone who just needed to make a portion of her text, in one post only, smaller. With a little html and CSS I fixed it in under 20 minutes AND GOT PAID!

I always dreamed that all of the work I was doing would pay off, and sometimes – I admit – I wanted to give up. But NOW! I am so proud, and happy and really surprised!!!

Seriously, anyone can do it! I always joke that my brain is like a sieve, and sometimes it really seems that way. I’m not going to say it’s easy, but it is so worth it! To feel like you are learning something that almost no-one understands is really empowering. Also, knowing that even if you don’t know the answer, now you know how to find it, is worth it’s weight in gold.

What was your life / situation like before Skillcrush?

I felt completely stuck at the job I was in. No opportunities for growth or enrichment, I wasn't being challenged or using my talents, and I hated the day-to-day atmosphere and tasks. I was driving my friends and family crazy with complaining, but I didn't know what else to do. I knew that whatever move I made would involve more education (a BA in psychology doesn't get you very far in the real world), but I wasn't making enough money to enroll in a traditional program. I felt totally stuck.
