Digital marketers are planners and creative strategists.
Every online product and service needs a digital marketer to find the people who would most enjoy it, then bring them to the door. Digital marketers dream up exciting online campaigns that speak to their target audience, then find the best channels to reach them. Many digital marketers choose to specialize in certain areas, like Search Engine Optimization (SEO), social media, content, or email marketing.
Digital marketers spend their days understanding the needs of their target audience, translating business goals into creative online marketing campaigns, and staying on top of digital media trends. If you love planning events, playing strategy games, creating social buzz, or even finding the perfect gift for that friend who has everything, then digital marketing is a perfect job for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between digital marketing and traditional marketing? The only difference between digital marketing and so-called “traditional” marketing is what medium (often called a marketing channel) you use. For example, traditional marketers will use traditional marketing channels such as direct mail, television, newspaper, public relations for print publications, radio, billboards, etc. to reach their target market. In digital marketing, you use all the same tactics (buyer personas, copywriting, audience targeting) but instead of traditional analog channels, you use digital marketing channels such as display ads, search engine marketing, email marketing, social media marketing, etc.
How much does a digital marketer earn? How much do entry level marketing jobs pay?According to the website Indeed, the average salary for a digital marketer is $63,609. That said, digital marketing salaries may start on the lower end—the average salary for a marketing intern is $32,956—they can go quite high: the average salary for Directors of Marketing is $82,100, and it’s common for more senior level digital marketers to make well over $100,000. Although it depends on the area of the country and the field, entry level salaries tend to be in the $30-40,000 range. According to Indeed.com, the average salary for a marketing coordinator is 39,542, for marketing assistants it’s $36,088, and for Social Media Managers it’s $48,933.
Do I need to have previous tech experience to succeed in this Course? Not at all! This course is perfect for beginners with zero coding experience. You just need to have a basic understanding of computers and be able to upload and download files.
What kind of jobs/work will I be able to do after this course?Learning in-demand digital marketing skills will prepare you for a rewarding career in this rapidly growing field. Job opportunities are plentiful, with many different areas of specialization available. Depending on your interests, you might be interested in a career as a Content Manager, SEO Specialist, Email Marketing Specialist, or Digital Marketing Manager, just to name a few.
Can digital marketers work from home?Absolutely! There are two major ways that digital marketers can work from home: First, digital marketing is a great skill for freelancing. Many digital marketers work as consultants for small and medium sized businesses, either leading up all their marketing efforts or pitching in on a specific campaign or marketing channel (eg. social media marketing). Many freelance digital marketers make great livings working primarily from home and only traveling to their client’s offices occasionally (if at all). The second major way that digital marketers work from home is by working remotely for one business. In this scenario, some digital marketers are actually employees for the company. Remote jobs like this can be harder to find, simply because it’s more rare for companies to hire remote workers vs. hiring remote freelancers. That said, the number of remote jobs is growing rapidly!
What is the difference between digital marketing, online marketing, and internet marketing?Good news! There’s no difference :) Digital marketing, online marketing, and internet marketing are three terms that all mean the same thing: marketing activities that take place on the Internet!
Do I need to know design?Nope! We’ll walk you through the process of building and formatting an email newsletter and landing page (using templates to help you), but you don’t need any previous design experience to begin this course.
What software will I need for the course?During this course, we’ll introduce you to six tools of the trade that are used by digital marketing pros worldwide. These tools are intuitive and easy to learn, and can be easily used in a browser window. And best of all, they’re free!
How long will I have access to my Course?Once you’ve completed payment for the course, you’ll have access to it for LIFE.
Should I have a Mac or a PC to take this course? The only thing you need is a computer with access to the web. You should be able to stream YouTube or Vimeo videos and download/upload materials like photos and documents. We recommend a Mac for your future career in tech as Macs tend to be the industry standard, BUT a Windows PC will work fine too.
You don’t have to go back to school. You don’t need to be under 30, 40, or even 60. You don’t have to leave your job or take time off. You don’t even have to know a single thing about code—if you can download a file, you’re tech-savvy enough.
I like how I don't have a boss blowing down my neck 9-5 making sure that I'll do my work. I like how I can do my work when it fits with my general workflow (sometimes that's late at night). It also gives me the freedom to price myself, continuing to build my self-confidence to stand up for my worth.
Just weeks ago, I was hired full-time as a web design manager at a digital marketing firm. I've more than doubled my salary and now get perks like an additional annual bonus, three weeks vacation, and flex time... all thanks to Skillcrush.

I dove into my Front End Developer Course in March and April while I was living in Europe, and then I returned home and started freelancing. Honestly, I didn’t even finish the course until November.... I was so busy taking on work that didn’t need it!
