It’s Thursday January 9th, 2014 and Adria Richards is back! Go check it out, she’s tweeting :)
Early last year, Richards, a developer evangelist at SendGrid, tweeted a photo of some men sitting behind her along with the lewd comments they were making during a presentation at the tech conference PyCon. The incident resulted in an intense media storm and discussion about sexism and mysogyny in the tech industry and resulted in one of the men, and Adria herself, getting fired.
Much has been written about the incident and Richards has been the subject of extensive harassment and threats online for almost a year. Harassment and threats that have led her to take down her popular blog. Earlier this evening, however, Richards, while at tech conference #CES14 announced via her Twitter that her blog was back up and that she was happy to be engaging with folks on Twitter again.
Richards continued to tweet her thanks to the developer community and others for their support and helping her to not letting her experience at PyCon stop her from attending and enjoying #CES14 in Vegas. Richards also continued by expressing her commitment to bringing to light how massive harassment campaigns are executed by hate groups on social networks.
