Work-life balance isn’t just an issue for women. Fathers, caretakers, and people in all sorts of relationships have to deal with the issue of prioritizing family without putting their careers in the backseat.

Maybe perfect equilibrium isn’t impossible, but according to a FlexJobs survey, 92% of parents think that they can be good parents AND good employees.

It’s just a matter of figuring out what conditions will make that possible.

Here’s what I mean. Maybe you can’t work a standard 9-to-5 and structure your personal life the way you want to. You need a way to do meaningful work on a schedule that works for you.

You need a flexible job! And a flexible job can mean: a remote job, a part-time job, a job with a flexible schedule, freelance work, or even a job with great maternity or paternity leave.
FlexJobs found that the highest motivating factors that lead parents to search for remote work are:

    • Family responsibilities (52 percent)
    • Work-life balance (74 percent) was tied with health/exercise
    • Time and cost savings, as well as a reduction in commuting stress, follow.

– Survey: Can Working Parents Be Great Employees AND Parents?

And there are a lot of different models of flexible work situations that will help you achieve those goals.

“Most parents want to work from home, but other types of flexibility are popular as well,”:

    • telecommuting all the time (79 percent)
    • alternative or flexible schedules (47 percent)
    • telecommuting part of the time (44 percent)
    • part-time schedules (45 percent)
    • freelance positions (39 percent)

The trick is deciding WHICH flexible work situation is right for you.

The good news? There is a lot of opportunity to land flexible work if you have valuable tech skills. It’s not just the fact that there are a lot of traditional tech jobs (like web developer positions, for example) in the flexible job market—it’s also the reality that ANY flexible job will probably require some soft tech skills, like being able to handle a purely digital workplace.

But whether you’re looking to code Ruby apps while your baby naps or manage a nonprofit’s marketing plan 3 days a week, there’s a flexible tech job for you. Below, check out 51 flexible tech jobs that are available right now.
