Facebook schmacebook. Everyone knows that these days it is all about Instagram. Not just for posting selfies and pictures of your perfectly placed brunch but also for selling brands. According to a recent report released by research firm L2, Instagram has the most engagement and the highest conversion from browser to shopper. The report also shows that 92% of luxury brands who post an average of 5.5 times a week on Instagram increase their customer base. People want to not only see what their favorite brands are up to but also the people working behind them. They also want to interact but not in a way that feels forced. You wouldn’t think this would be that interesting for Instagram but boy would you be wrong. The feed shows all the different industries GE is a part of. It also hosts great photo contests to find its next “Instagrapher”.

One of the most clever things this brand did was feature an instructional video on how to mix and match their bathing suits. Boom. This is both helpful for their customers and a non-obnoxious sales tactic.

Kate Spade has been hitting it out of the park when it comes to social media for years so it is no wonder their Instagram also rules. This summer they held a contest where all you had to do was take your best summer picture of summer and tag @KateSpadeNY and they were eligible to win $250. Smart stuff.

    I rarely follow big brands on Instagram, just because I know I’ll remember their names. I follow smaller companies like TheFeedFeed, BuymeBrunch, FashDashMash, and YogaRocksPark. Do you recommend following the Insta accounts in this post because they are doing it right, or because they have a lot of followers by virtue of their brand or…?
